Entered the multistory post office in Manhattan at 1:50pm carrying his mailbag. While confronting his supervisor in a conference room postal clerk Carlos Siratt tried to break them up. David produced a .30-30 rifle from his mailbag and shot the clerk in the chest. The clerk survived and David later surrendered to police.

Shortly after 2pm at the main post office in Atlanta Georgia, Steven Brownlee was working at sorting mail, when with no warning he produced a .22 caliber handgun. After killing his co-worker and supervisor then wounding a third he was overpowered by fellow postal workers and was held until police arrived.

After confronting the Anniston, Alabama postmaster about mistreatment, he left the building and headed for his car. He leaned inside and retrieved a .38 caliber revolver. Upon returning he shot postmaster Oscar Johnson in the head. He later surrendered to the police.

" I told you I'd get even with you, you sonofabitch " shouted ex postal worker Perry Bush Smith after he unloaded two 12-gauge rounds into Charles McGee, his former supervisor. McGee had fled the South Carolina post office after seeing the gunman enter. Perry caught up with him at The Pantry, a convenience store across the road. Two other postal workers and a police officer were wounded. Perry Smith surrendered to the wounded officer.
